In 1972, I started to live in Midtown Manhattan. I was amazed that I was living in a forest of tall skyscrapers. First, I created an underpainting with a bright color. Then, I painted a light gray all over the surface. As I scratched the surface with custom made pointy tool, small little bright colors came up from underneath.
