“The excitement of the work, however, is in the details. On close examination, the richly textured surfaces reveal themselves to be labor-intensive collages made of countless tiny pieces of Japanese rice paper and numerous paint-applications.”

Review of the Yoda Family’s Home Studio by John Freeman Gill
“In recent years, she has made beautiful and mysterious photo collages of the cityscape. Favorite subjects are the Jenga Building at 56 Leonard Street and a single white lily on her fire escape, with the timeworn brick buildings of Mercer and Howard Streets as backdrop.
She begins with a photograph, which she prints on washi, Japanese rice paper, and applies to a canvas atop an under-layer of painted washi. The process involves wetting the washi and drying it on a kitchen clothesline.”
